Caution: A Nerd's Web Log!
by quarterbar
For more than a year now, I've been following the exploits of a former
co-worker via his online diary. This guy, let's call him Chad, is not
like
other people. Chad is a furry. Furries are folks who enjoy dressing up
like
animals and writing fantasy fiction about hybrid dolphin-skunk-humans.
Sound
extremely dorky? You're right!
There is a subsection of furries that incorporates their
anthropomorphism
into their sex life, i.e. having sex in fursuits. Chad is not a part
of
this, but perhaps he would be if he had a sex life.
You may not be shocked to hear that Chad's interests also encompass
video
games, Dance Dance Revolution (the interactive dancing video game), and
japanese animation. His diary is incredibly thorough, containing vital
info
about specific assignments at work, health, his computer, what tv show
he
watched on a given night, car repairs, the temperature in his
apartment, his
dad's stereo system, and, lately, some limited dating.
What follows are one-line highlights of the diary compliled by myself
and
another of Chad's former co-workers:
A message if you're reading this, Jeremy: You've lost the
opportunity to
have a very dedicated and hard-working individual make a difference in
your
organization.
I spent much of today trying to beat Sonic Adventure 2. I must
have
played for six hours straight! Daaaaaang...
After showing Mom a fun competitive game mode in DDR Disney that I
discovered last night, we went in to take her main computer (her server
machine) apart and vacuum it out.
I got some stuff for the bathroom, including a shower curtain that
enabled me to take a much-needed shower. Boy, did that feel good.
the neat thing is, Doug's computer is now 1/3 the speed of Dad's,
but
his video card is very comparable in terms of performance
Tonight I managed to score a perfect run on "Wonderland" (a hip-hop
remix of "Boogie Wonderland") in Maniac mode (7 feet). I think I
managed to
impress a few people.
I really gotta cut back on arcade DDR, man. I know I'm getting good
at
it and it's amazingly fun to play, but when they say it's an
addiction,
they're not kidding...
Ophelia, if you're reading this... you had your chance, babe.
Funny how the freedom of youth turns to loneliness in old age.
It was pretty fun, but I've come to the conclusion that it's really
just
not my style of game anymore. I used to really enjoy Laser Tag, but of
the
places I've played, I think Q-Zar is still the best.
I ended up rather sore and worn-out-feeling from last night's DDR
marathon
I got up in the mid afternoon and played Final Fantasy X for most
of the
day.
As you've probably guessed, I am really heavily into computers.
Like,
computers are my life.
My only major problem tonight was a residual reaction to my lunch
today
- a taco salad with sliced jalapenos. I've confirmed that those,
specifically, are what irritate my digestive system the most.
I think that's an awesome movie - Tezuka at his furriest, for sure.
=)
I'm beginning to flesh out a few more ideas for this story I'm
going to
write. I keep balking at wanting to use Kiefer, my primary character.
I picked up a box of Duraflame "CrackleFlame" logs for my
fireplace. It
burned as advertised for about 3 hours, and put out a pretty decent
amount
of heat.
Now, if I just had a cat and a girlfriend, I'd say my life would be
pretty well complete right now. Not 100%, of course, but two major
sinkholes would at least be patched.
Came home feeling a bit queasy. Think I know what it was, though:
Combination of heavy exercise, fatigue (I was kinda tired this evening,
at
least at the start), caffeine (Mountain Dew Code Red), and heavy
sweating
(depletion of electrolytes).
Give it time, Kiefer, give it time...
I did get involved in a rather interesting roleplay-style sci-fi
writing
session on the Fox's Tale forum
We went to dinner at Chili's, where I ordered the "Mushroom Jack
Fajitas"
I *really* need to wash my hair.
Needless to say, AnthroCon 2001 was a blast
Still, I can't complain - weekly magic shows don't exactly appear
out of
thin air. ;-)
After spending a few hours over at Dad's last night to help out
with
building fursuit stuff, I managed to get a rather fitful sleep that
included
a very vivid dream about being bitten by a large spider.
I had a blast watching TRON in Spanish (with English subtitles, of
course).
My favorite Win XP security feature - Guest users can't install any
programs. However, they do have full access to the registry.
I'm starting to get a lot of "Why waste the gas in your car?" and
more
penis-enlargement e-mails, etc. Ugh... don't make me setup more spam
filters, please?
decided to try something new today - Chai tea. It was surprisingly
good.
=)
I managed to pull a muscle last night while playing DDR at
Illusionz. I
got brave and decided to take a serious stab at Exotic Ethnic Heavy
Ah well, such is the life of sports, and DDR is a sport, as far as
I'm
concerned.
Seems my IBS symptoms are on their way back, though it's sorta
understandable given that I've been eating a lot of jalapenos lately.
