Time's Up & More!

Awesome Features For You:

Video: Time's Up New Expression Spring Break Intro Video!

List: Pornatorium!

Review: The First 20 Minutes of Stuck On You
Shows This Weekend:
Tonight, check out The Boneless Children Foundation at The Make Out Room, 9 pm. Paco is in that group, and Paco is rad, so I assume the music is the same. Friday night, check out avid LUBO supporters Addison at Stork Club if you are in Oakland. They will be on around 11. I think its 5 bucks. And I think they are good! If you are in San Francisco, Studio Z will be hosting the release party for the 4th issue of Mesh Magazine. I totally have some music reviews in that very issue, and the people at Mesh were totally at the last New Expression. There will be cool bands and art. So support, like I will most likely be doing. If you are not in San Francisco or Oakland this weekend, well, then you're fucked. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

Do What's Wright.

I take casual carpool to work. If you don't know what it is, let me explain real quick: There is a carpool lane on the freeway that goes from Oakland, over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. If you have three or more people you may use it, and on top of not having to pay the bridge toll, the commute is 15 minutes as opposed to an hour or more if you have to wait in line at the toll. So I stand in a line every morning around the corner from my house, and get into a random persons car and they take me, a complete stranger, to work, with another complete stranger. One of the unspoken rules, is that you just don't talk in the car. Get in, say hello, shut up. Bodes well for every party involved. Still, every once in a while you get a talker, and seeing as how you are getting a free ride, there is a certain obligation to respond. This morning a 45 year oldish dude that looked like Stephen Wright and dressed like a Los Angeles based music producer trying too hard to be cool picked me up. He was wearing too much leather for a guy going to work in the city. He was wearing too much leather, period. Right on par with his appearance, he was blasting White Stripes (must have watched the VMA Awards with his son) and he was drumming along on his steering wheel. It was actually more cute than anything. So we finally get into the city and as is carpool protocol, he tells us where he is going (past market St.), and asks where we would like to be dropped off. The girl in the back seat then asked "How far past Market St. do you go?" To which he replies "To California... Califoooornia Looooove!" I snickered, as did the girl in back. Then he says "So what do you guys think about a little Califooornia Looove?" and we both kinda laugh again, awkwardly. Then he rummages around for a CD and finally finds it, and puts it in. Not ten seconds later we are listening to the Dr. Dre/2Pac jam "California Love" and it couldn't have been weirder/awesomer. There is nothing quite as spiritually uplifting as listening to 2Pac with complete strangers, one looking like Stephen Wright mixed with Stephen Tyler, before 8:30 am. It changed me, forever. That's all.
Three new "features: for you today:
A Conversation About Stella Live: A conversational review about the Stella show I went to on Saturday evening. Fun.
The Rise and Fall of Spanganga: A Conversation With Sean Kelly: An interview with Sean Kelly, who's theater space, Spanganga in the Mission (where we have done several shows) will sadly be closing this week, forever. There is talk about sex in it. Fun squared.
Sink To The Bottom: A New Triangle & Mac comic!: A triangle and mac ctrip I did a long time ago and never published because it wasn't particulalry funny, but feel like posting now because why not? Fun super-squared.
