A Very Porny LUBO

I am going to go to see Herbie Hancockthis evening with my special love unicorn. Hopefully it will include Cantaloupe Island. Then, after this, we are going to go see a jazz keyboardist and former Headhunter perform a live musical set at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga. ZING! I am stoked and I am STOKED! I hope he plays real good stuff and stuff so I can tap my foot and maybe bob my head. You know, straight up Rock It! (That's the title of his early eightiesish classic, which would make what I just said "clever" or "extremely fun") Anyhoooooooo... Speaking of Hancock's, we have a sexy feature today by paws o'henry that will knock your socks off so that you can use them to clean yourself up after reading it. Jeez, with the cleverness never cease?!? To read the feature click the above pink themed graphic or right....... here. Then, if you honest to god want to really scare yourself, click here. Shivvvvertown.

Cody's World

Today we have another installment of Well Crafted Music Calls For A Well Crafted Cheese by Stephen Cody. This week he features the not-so-secretly-emerging-anymore-but-still-so-damn-good-rock-and-roll-band Broken Social Scene alongside Peluso's Tomales Bay Teleme and Grace Baking Pugliese Italian Country Bread. Lots of surprises, excellent read. So, um, read.

Inspired by Cody's review and the fact that I haven't written shit myself in weeks, here's a tiny write up of a few songs I have been listening to this morning and how they made me feeeeeel (inside):

1. Dry The Rain by The Beta Band - Perfect song to start my day with. Slow start, fun build up, and when the bass line came in it was like a slice of triumphant heaven. All of a sudden, drinking my coffee became a major accomplishment for the better of the world. Your welcome, society.

2. Seneca by Tortoise - Insane Deodatoish free jazzy opening that leads into super bassy drum break that almost makes me cry every time. The rest of the song puts me in an 80's era action show a la Magnum P.I. mode, only in addition to kicking bad guy's asses I deal with more techy-science stuff too. It makes me feel important and therefore my productivity is essential not just for my own well being, but for the well being of my community. Kinda like Dry The Rain.

3. Sunshine Recorder by Boards of Canada - Definitely a different vibe than the first two jams. Mellowed me out some. Not always a good thing in the morning. But still so pretty and inspiring. Made me want to quit, buy a [good]sampler and make pretty beats for a living.

4. Instant Karma! by John Lennon: Seriously the greatest song ever. Made me want to "shine on" all damn morning. And I kinda have been. Listen to it right now.

Hot Cross Buns

So I work with this girl Dana and Dana loves David Cross (as do we) and Dana's friend is a photographer and she took pictures of David Cross for some reason or another and knowing how big of a fan Dana is of David, she had David hold a sign saying hello to Dana and so when Dana shared this story with me last week I was like, "Send me the picture and I will totally put it on the front page of my highly succesful web page!", and well, I think we all know the end of this story (see pic above)! Insta-cred. I totally work with someone who's friend is a photographer in New York and took a picture of David Cross holding a sign with her name. And when I say "work with," I of course mean "answer phones and make coffee in the same office as." Still, purty damn neat I gotta say.

This weekend was chock full of fun. I MC'd my first wedding for close pals Chris Brigham and Tina Glezakos (Brigham). The wedding was magic and I was amazingly able to avoid embarrasing myself and my close friends in attendance. At least I think so. In any case everyone had a blast and I extend another congrats to the special couple. I plan on writing a review of the wedding soon. But maybe not.

Last item of note: In order to post today's posting, I had to delete the one from the bottom of the page of LUBO exclusive short film Pond Walkin'. If you have not yet seen it, go ahead and see it or something. It'll give you a healthy serving of smiles. Or a headache. No, just smiles. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!
