Flammy Spreads Wings at Pegasus![]() The flashing icon below worked tremendously as Pegasus Books was filled with people last night for the Neal Pollack Book Reading. Neal couldn't have been a nicer man, and despite a serious bout of stage fright about ten minutes before show time, I managed to make the crowd laugh. When more than one person came up and told me that I was a hit, I came to the conclusion that my ten minute opening act was a hit! Obviously you can't capture the subtleties of the show in script format, but for those of you who couldn't make it, here is an outline of my short act in all its glory. Straight up cheezball. Straight up flammy. Neal put on a wonderful show himself, sipping from a Corona as he read excerpts from his newest book, Beneath The Axis of Evil, fielding questions from the audience, and breaking out a classic from his original anthology. All in all it was an excellent evening, and thank you to all who came out to support. Now onto the real business at hand, a brand new feature. We we able to intercept an email from Charles Tandy, founder of Radio Shack, to his employees and franchisees. I think you will find it exciting, ground-breaking, and humorous all at the same time. Enjoy! bullied by jamie flam on 4/25/2003 :: ![]() See lunchboxer Jamie Flam in action TONIGHT (See above flashing icon), as he takes center stage for 5 to 10 minutes at Pegasus Books in Berkeley! He will be performing a completely moronic, but possibly entertaining set in support of author Neal Pollack, who graciously extended this invitation with no clue as to whether or not Jamie is actually funny. The reading/performance begins at precisely 9, so be there early to catch Jamies' antics. If not, come support Neal. You will not be dissapointed. Pegasus is located at 2349 Shattuck Ave. at Durant. Guaranteed good times. For some context on Neal, read the lunchboxing interview we conducted earlier this year. In the meantime, we have two new features for ya! Check out a Burrito-related Review by Paws O'Henry that will make you want to eat a burrito. Then check out the newest installment of travel-log The Baruti Column which takes you to Philadelphia, PA. It will make you want to eat a burrito. bullied by jamie flam on 4/24/2003 :: The Jingo Ate My Baby ![]() About a year and a half ago some people in airplanes knocked over some buildings in New York. You might have heard about it. At that time, I lived in San Francisco and experienced, like everyone, the gravity-defying spike of "Patriotism." (Read: Overtly Christian, racist, jingoistic bullshit.) One day, while on my lunch break, I saw a dude in a black-primer-painted 70's Chevy truck blasting AC/DC with a fucking ENORMOUS American flag to wave along side his pretty-large Pirate flag. I can't really explain it now, but something about the image of that guy really sent me over the edge, and at that time my great movement of protest against all of the Nationalistic hubbub was to create a tiny mock website that I would share with my small group of friends. Shortly thereafter, I forgot about it. Today I was reminded again. Obviously it's still topical, though the focal point of our empty collective hatred is different than it was in late 2001. However, you will find that Saddam Hussein, or as I like to call him "ShotDown InFlames" (Get it??!?!? We fucked him up!! HAHAHA!!) makes a cameo. It's all about America. And babies. American Babies. Submitted for your enjoyment...LittlePatriots.com. bullied by Jason Betrue on 4/22/2003 :: Have You Seen The New Nerds??? ![]() We couldn't be more excited about the new and exciting packaging for Willy Wonka brand confection, NERDS candy. In fact, the only way we could express our delight was in collage picture form. Since there were only five of us, I slyly put a close-up of the nerds box in the bottom right hand corner. So sly am I, so very sly. Since I am feature-less this Monday afternoon, I will encourage you to find entertainment elsewhere on the inter-web. May I recommend Rob Diener's Funnsylvania.com? Thank you. Hilarious site and an even more hilarious man with whom a few lunchboxers had the pleasure of meeting this weekend in a debaucherous evening in Los Angeles. And yes, there were a few girls involved as well. Thank you. bullied by jamie flam on 4/21/2003 :: |
